How to grow these bulbs?

  • For an outdoor spring display, plant hyacinth bulbs during October or November in a sun-lit or semi-shaded area. Ensure the pointed tip faces upwards, placing them about 10cm (4 inches) deep in moist, well-draining soil.
  • For indoor displays, plant the bulbs in containers using potting compost or bulb fibre, with the tip just above the soil surface. Store them in a cool, well-ventilated, dark space (around 7°C) for approximately 6 weeks.
  • Water the bulbs only when the compost starts to dry out. Once the shoots reach 3cm (1 inch), move the containers to a bright indoor spot for further growth.
