What Is A Bikini Wax?
Bikini Waxing is the simple removal of pubic hair! It uses a special wax that adheres to the hairs and pulls them out quickly as the wax strip is removed. The wax in a Bikini Wax can be hot or cold, and is usually applied alongside a cloth strip. A Bikini Line Wax removes the hairs that would lie just outside your bikini bottoms, hence the name! A Full Bikini Wax would remove these hairs as well as any on the front of the pubic bone (you can choose to have a strip, square or triangle of hair left behind). Though Bikini Waxing is usually associated with women, men are able to get similar treatments if they wish to do so!
How Long Does A Bikini Wax Last?
A Bikini Wax will usually last anywhere between three to four weeks, but everyone is different! Some people may have hair grow back quicker or thicker than others, but this can be helped with the correct waxing aftercare, ask your wax specialist to let you know what this may be for you. When it comes to getting a Bikini Wax for a holiday, we suggest doing so at least a day or two before you depart. This way, if any unwanted side effects do occur, such as redness or sensitivity, your skin will have ample time to recover before you need to squeeze into your newest bikini!
Is A Bikini Wax Better Than Shaving?
Some people will always vouch for shaving over waxing and vice versa, but we know which one is our favourite! Waxing lasts longer overall because the hair gets removed from the follicle rather than just cut at the surface. Waxing also leaves skin smoother, and the hair that eventually grows back will do so thinner than before! Heading for a bikini wax each time will also lessen your risks of cutting yourself with a razor, and of having nasty ingrown hairs appear. Not to mention waxing saves time and can sometimes be more cost effective than buying multiple disposable razors every month. Plus, waxing doesn't always hurt as much as it does on your first go! As you become accustomed to your treatments, we promise the pain will lessen.
Side Effects Of Bikini Wax
You've probably heard all the waxing horror stories out there, but the truth is, waxing your bikini line doesn't do that much damage or even hurt that much! Redness, irritation, sensitivity, sunburn; all are possible, but most can be minimised or avoided completely with the right aftercare and the best waxing specialist. Your specialist should be using a pre-wax oil before the wax that can eliminate the possibility of the wax gripping too much to your skin, which will also reduce the pain of your treatment. After a wax, try to stay away from anything tight-fitted or hot in that area for up to 48 hours, which will help to keep your Bikini Wax harm-free.
